On Wednesday, the Chamber held another great quarterly luncheon. A special thanks to TRADE Industries (for sponsoring the lunch), Foxy (for providing first-rate food), and Nick Burke--for offering an excellent primer on using social media for marketing.
What a fantastic Annual Dinner on Saturday, February 4th. Thank you to everyone who attended. The Chamber stepped up their game this year and brought some new things to the event including a social hour, a Hidden Gems jewelry event and a Silent Auction. Thank you to all of our silent auction donors and Irvin's Jewelry for sponsoring Hidden Gems. And a special thanks to the Special Events committee for all your hard work and planning to provide such a nice evening.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! What a successful trivia night. We had nine trivia teams participate, lots of great food, and a wonderful silent auction event. Congratulations to the winning team - the McLeansboro City Clerk's team on being the trivia buffs for the evening.
Thank you to the participants and all the donors. The Chamber has great plans for 2017 and these funds will help us get some great things accomplished.
nother great Chamber lunch yesterday. Thanks to our lunch sponsor - Deep South, who also catered today's lunch. They shared with us their lunch and catering menu options, as well as, talked about how you can rent out their facility Sunday - Wednesday for private parties. Our presentation was on the Shop Local Punch Card Program, which will be rolling out November 1st. Be watching for punch cards available at the check out counters of your favorite local businesses. If you want to be a participating business or get involved in the chamber, let us know! You can pm us or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedule today to attend our luncheon!
On September 14th, we had a great time at our Business After Hours event at Tom's Priced Right Foods. We learned so much valuable information about what Tom's Priced Right Foods & Ace Hardware has to offer. Did you know they offer Senior and Military Discounts on certain days of the week? Or that they will open the store outside of regular business hours in case of emergencies? Double coupons on Fridays? Party trays?
They will work with you to accommodate most of the things you might typically go to a big box store for. It pays to shop local! If you haven't tried Tom's Priced Right Foods & Ace Hardware...we recommend you do.
Thanks to everyone who attended!
We had a great visit from our State Treasurer, Michael Frerichs.
He educated us on several programs his office is responsible for including: the Ag Invest Program, the College Savings Program, the ICash program, and the Illinois Growth and Innovation Fund. Mr. Frerichs also briefly discussed two new programs they are developing including one called ABLE Accounts that allows parents of disabled children to save tax-free dollars to help provide care for their children later in life and also a retirement fund called Secure Choice, which makes it easier for people to save for retirement with automatic payroll deductions. For more information on how these programs can help you, visit http://www.illinoistreasurer.gov.
Our Business After Hours was held on August 22, 2016 at the Hamilton Memorial Downtown Family Clinic, office of Mike Davenport, and in conjunction with their ribbon cutting. This event was from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and gave chamber members the opportunity to network and learn about opportunities with the clinic. Under the hospital’s ownership, the clinic now has it’s own lab to do patient’s lab work on site. For more information, visit their website at https://www.hmhospital.org/clinics/.
Our quarterly luncheon was held on Wednesday, August 10th at the Union Hall. The Hamilton Memorial Hospital was our Sponsor and talked briefly about the services available at the hospital location in McLeansboro, as well as, their clinics in McLeansboro and Carmi. The luncheon speaker/presentation was Nathan Taylor from Hamilton County EMA and he introduced us to Nixle. He talked about the implementation, funding, how it works and most importantly how businesses in Hamilton County can utilize this system and benefit from it. Lunch was catered by local chamber member, Foxy.
We might have had to move our movie indoors to the Carlton Center, but we still had over 100 people join us for a fun-filled night. Several started off at the Free family swim, donated by the City of the McLeansboro. Starting at 7, the Chamber served up hot dogs, chips, drinks and popcorn, with the movie starting promptly at 8 p.m. We also gave out 10 backpacks at the end of the night, which were provided by the Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce, McLeansboro Kiwanis, Hamilton County Rotary, McLeansboro Eagles and McLeansboro Elks. Thanks to everyone who contributed, donated, volunteered and attended this great community event!
Starting in July, Hamilton County residents have been able to enjoy some very talented performers in the new park located on the Northwest side of the Square. To start off the series, local talent Meghan Barrow, drew quite a following on July 1st. The second event, held July 8th, we had performers Taylor Kearney and Caleb Kearney from Benton perform, along with providing free face painting for the kids. Coming up on July 15th, we have local talent Sean Burke performing with a friend, a clown and balloon twisting for the kids. On Friday, August 12th, we had Perry Case & Sons perform. Please join us as we will try to continue our music series throughout the Summer.
