Chamber Hosts "Rules of Order" Luncheon for Businesses

The Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce hosted its first quarterly luncheon of 2025 on March 20th at Auten's Pizza. Chamber member businesses were invited to learn about Robert's Rules of Order and best business meeting practices from Lindsay Adams with the University of Illinois Extension. This is something that businesses and organizations of all sizes can utilize to run their meetings more efficiently! Thank you to Auten's pizza for hosting us and all of the members who attended. HAMILTON COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 2024 ANNUAL DINNER

The Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Dinner and Awards Banquet Saturday night at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis.

Since last year’s event, the Chamber has grown to 102 members with 13 new members this year.

The Chamber awarded its first $1,000 business grant to Main Street Diner and the first emergency grant this year for $1,000 went to KG’s Market.

Hometown Swirls was presented with this year’s Business of the Year award.

The Ted Satterfield award went to Sam Wilson, who was also presented with an award as a retiring board member with over 15 years on the board.

Terry Wells provided music for the event. The Ladies of Piopolis cooked an excellent meal as well as Tom Anselment for the smoked pork chops according to the Chamber.

The Chamber now turns its attention toward the annual Hamco Food and Brew Fest. It will be held March 1 at the Big Red Barn in McLeansboro.

The Hamilton County Chamber Luncheon-Discover Downstate Illinois

On Wednesday May 1 ^st the Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce held a luncheon at Tequila Mexican Restaurant.

The guest speaker was Christine Orr with Discover Downstate Illinois. Christine did a presentation about Discover Downstate Illinois which is a CVB.

A CVB is defined and recognized by its status as an incorporated, non-for-profit agency or local government agency which promotes economic development of the community through traveler and tourism.

Their organization helps with promotion of anything tourism related to counties, cities, community, town, or village, attractions, events, hotels and motels, restaurants, and unique shops.

They can provide help through several different types of media promotion such as radio, social media, tv, video, brochures, billboards, digital marketing, and their tourism magazine.

6th Annual Hamilton County Food and Brew - A great time was had by all!

The 6th Annual Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce Food & Brew Fest took place on February the 10th. There were just under 300 people in attendance and many Food & Brew vendors.

It was another terrific night at Trackers Lodge for this year's HamCo Food & Brew Fest!

Thank you to our sponsors: DANA Communications, Trackers Lodge, Peoples National Bank, Hamilton Memorial Hospital, Sea Service Family Consulting, Banterra Bank, The Liquor Hut, Fred Vallowe - McLeansboro City Clerk and CounterTop Creations. Your kind sponsorships made this awesome event happen! Thank you again to all who attended and took the time to learn about all the good food and brews in our area!

The competition was fierce in both the Food and Brew categories. We saw some returning restaurants, as well as some new faces. And the offerings were diverse—everything from BBQ (Lil Buddies BBQ) to traditional American (Foxy, Gottzz's, and Huck's), Tex-Mex (Guero's), Upscale offerings (Rend Lake College Culinary Arts), Pasture-Raised Meats (Gage Agricultural Designs), with Appetizers and sweet Desserts (Alicia's Sweets, Dairy Queen, and Carbon Forge Design) to cap it all off.

The Brews were also outstanding, with something for everyone (but minors of course). From lighter Ales to Stouts, from Hefeweizens to IPAs--and some Ciders to sweeten things a bit.

And although the vote count was very tight in both categories, here is how the voting shook out:

The Chamber continued their tradition of a social hour that included hor d'oeuvres, beer and wine. Thank you to our Social Hour Sponsor - The Liquor Hut. Our chamber held it's 3rd annual trivia night on Friday, November 2, 2018. We had a great turnout of participants, wonderful food and fun times. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our chamber and local business community.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! What a successful trivia night. We had nine trivia teams participate, lots of great food, and a wonderful silent auction event. Congratulations to the winning team - the McLeansboro City Clerk's team on being the trivia buffs for the evening.

Thank you to the participants and all the donors. The Chamber has great plans for 2017 and these funds will help us get some great things accomplished.

Another great Chamber lunch yesterday. Thanks to our lunch sponsor - Deep South, who also catered today's lunch. They shared with us their lunch and catering menu options, as well as, talked about how you can rent out their facility Sunday - Wednesday for private parties.

Our presentation was on the Shop Local Punch Card Program, which will be rolling out November 1st. Be watching for punch cards available at the check out counters of your favorite local businesses.
